How it works

Four steps, one reference number

You do the first one. We do the other three.

  1. 01

    Send us the link

Paste the product page from any US retailer. Tell us the size, colour and how many.

  2. 02

    We check & quote it

A person reviews whether it can be imported, then sends you an itemised quote — no surprises buried at the end.

  3. 03

    We buy it in America

Once you're happy, we purchase it with our US card and ship it to our US address.

  4. 04

We get it to New Zealand

We check it, repack it, fly it over and hand it to a local courier. You watch every step.

Typical end-to-end time is two to four weeks, depending on the retailer and the freight service. See the full journey

Why AmeriKiwi

A concierge, not a checkout

Freight forwarders give you a US address and wish you luck. We do the buying, the checking and the chasing.

Human purchasing assistance

US checkouts that reject NZ cards, addresses and phone numbers are our normal Tuesday. We handle them.

Import eligibility screening

Every request is reviewed by a person before we buy. If something can't come in, you'll know before you pay.

A transparent quote

Product, US shipping, our fee, freight, delivery and estimated duty — listed separately, in New Zealand dollars.

Package consolidation

Buying from three shops? We hold your parcels and send them as one, so you pay freight once.

Tracking the whole way

From 'bought in the US' to 'with your courier in Christchurch' — one timeline, one reference number.

Someone to help when it goes wrong

Wrong size shipped? Box arrived dented? You get a real person who already knows your order.

Popular use cases

What Kiwis actually ask us for

These are the requests that fill our inbox.

US-only clothing

Ranges, sizes and fits that never make it to a New Zealand store.

Limited editions

Drops and pre-orders that sell out before they reach the rest of the world.

Collectibles

Trading cards, figures, vinyl and memorabilia from US-exclusive stores.

Hobby gear

Model kits, craft supplies, sports and music gear at American prices.

Replacement parts

The obscure part your NZ supplier quotes six weeks and four times the price for.

American brands

Household names that simply don't ship here — or charge more than the item to try.

Transparent pricing

One service fee. Everything else at cost.

We charge for the work we do — buying, screening, receiving and supporting. Freight, tax and duty are passed through and shown separately.

  • Nothing to pay until you accept a quote
  • Product, freight and duty listed as separate lines
  • Estimates are labelled as estimates — always
  • Duty and GST are set by NZ Customs, not by us

AmeriKiwi service fee

NZ$35 minimum

or 13.5% of the product plus US shipping — whichever is greater.

Your quote also shows, separately:

  • Product costConverted to NZD at the rate on your quote
  • US domestic shipping & sales taxWhat the US retailer charges us
  • International freightEstimated until we weigh your parcel
  • NZ courier deliveryTracked, to your door
  • Estimated NZ duty & GSTAssessed by NZ Customs

We don’t promise an exact landed cost before we’ve seen the parcel. Anything that can move is labelled as an estimate on your quote.

Before we buy anything

Some things simply can't come in. We'd rather tell you first.

Every request gets a real review. Our software flags the obvious problems, but a person makes the call — and we'll always explain the answer.

What we can and can’t ship
Generally proceeds to review

Clothing, footwear, books, collectibles, hobby gear, toys without batteries, ordinary household goods and uncomplicated replacement parts.

Always manual review

Electronics, anything with a battery, cosmetics, unusual materials, and anything where import eligibility is uncertain.

Not accepted

Food, drink, supplements, medicines, alcohol, tobacco, vapes, weapons, perfume, aerosols, flammables, dangerous chemicals, meat, dairy, honey, seeds and plants.

What do you want from America?
